Acknowledgements
Winchester Cathedral would like to say a special thank you to all the following organisations and people:
The schools, choirs and music groups who are coming to perform at the Christmas Market and whose lovely music helps to embellish it every year.
Winchester City Council for their financial support and their many departments who help us in all kinds of ways, from parking and planning through to licensing.
Earlestoke Prison and Nigel Stokes, the tutor there, for building all the new chalets at the Christmas Market. Two years ago a project was set up at Winchester Prison to help inmates learn the skills to design and build chalets as part of a rehabilitation programme. Consequently over half of the Christmas Market chalets have ben built by these men. The scheme has now been extended to Earlestoke Prison, and continues to have success. Several released inmates have now found work helping other Christmas Markets.
Waitrose for their sponsorship of the Lantern Procession and for providing the funds to enable schools, church groups, scouts and other young people’s organisations to take part in the lantern making workshops.
Janet and Helen from The Blooming Workshop who have created all the beautiful swags and floral embellishments on the Christmas Market chalets this year.
Childhood’s Dream for their sponsorship of the Father Christmas Grotto and helping us create a lovely experience for all our youngest people.
The Hampshire Chronicle, the Southern Daily Echo, Heart FM, for all their help with promotion of the Christmas Market and Ice-Rink.
All the people who have offered help marshalling the lantern procession.
Hampshire Constabulary, the Fire Service and the Ambulance Service for their continued and invaluable advice and support.
To Tim and Neil of Hazlitt & Cosgrove Enterprises for all their invaluable help in setting up the Christmas Market chalets.
