Travel & Parking

 

It is expected that more than 250,000 visitors will be attending this year’s Christmas Market which will increase the demand for parking within the city. Please consider using public transport as the bus station is located off the High Street and the train station is only a 10 minute walk downhill to the city centre. If you are travelling by car, please see the information below about Park and Ride and city centre car parks.

 

Car parks

There are 7 short stay car parks & 9 long stay car parks in central Winchester. Details of charges and opening times can be found by going to: www.winchester.gov.uk/TransportAndStreets/Parking

 

Park & Ride


There are two Park & Ride services in Winchester, at St. Catherine's & Barfield which are signposted and within easy reach of the M3. The Park & Ride car parks are less than one mile from the city centre and buses operate every 10 – 15 minutes servicing all main areas of the city. Park & Ride bus services have been extended for the duration of the Christmas Market and will run as follows:

 

Monday – Wednesday: every 10 – 15 minutes from 7.15am – 7.19pm
Thursday – Saturday: every 10 – 15 minutes from 7.15am – 8.19pm
Sunday from 27 November – 20 December: A free service every 10 - 15 minutes from 7.15am – 7.19pm

 

Trains

Winchester is on a direct line from London Waterloo with frequent trains daily including weekends. The train station is about a 10 minute walk from the city centre.
